NC TraCS is the North Carolina’s implementation of the national model of the Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS) package, originally created for the state of Iowa. The national TraCS model is used by 24 states in an effort to promote national standardization in the collection and processing of crash data.

The NC DMV Traffic Records Communications System (TRCS) is an enhancement of the current Crash Reporting System that enables DMV to receive and process crash reports electronically.
